Black Skimmer At Sunset
A while back we had a black skimmer make an appearance in the marsh pond at the end of the day. The late evening setting sun lit the water nicely with layers of color.
I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.

There’s a beach down by Corpus Christi that’s always cordoned off for the skimmers and patrolled pretty closely during the nesting season. I think the colony actually is growing. They’re one of my favorite birds. I love to see them “skimming” across the water.

While at my mom’s, I thought of you. Over her lake a hawk went by…he’d caught something and was carrying it away. We think it may have been a squirrel or something. I was thinking you would’ve been able to capture the awesome power of it all had you been there…then walked inside to enjoy that carrot cake.
