Woody Loves Flounder
As soon as I arrived at the salt marsh yesterday evening I noticed this wood stork struggling with some sort of fish he had just plucked out of the water.
As I got closer I realized the stork had caught himself a nice flounder. It was going to be a tough job and require some work, but Woody badly wanted this seafood delight and was determined to get it down the hatch. After a ten minute or so battle, our pal Woody successfully swallowed down his hard earned dinner.
I know Woody loves him some flounder!
nature is amazing – great shots
Hey thanks very much glad you liked seeing Woody with his flounder.
Superbes captures ! mais quel gourmand 😉
Great sequence of shots, Phil. The flounder looks so huge in the initial shot that it seems impossible that Woody will be able to swallow it whole. You managed to capture some of the steps of the careful manipulation that the bird had to do to reposition the fish, with no margin of error.
Another great photographs… should be great dinner for him 🙂 Thanks an d Love, nia
A great example of “The impossible takes a bit longer”!
Gosh bones and all woody sure was hungry.
Great struggle.
Wonderful captures, and I would like to join him for a meal!!! Everybody in the Marsh seems to eat such wonderful fish and fresh!
Floundering… yet ultimately successful. Wonderful sequence. RH
What a fabulous series of his efforts!
Haha, that’s great! Always amazing to me how they can manage to get something that big swallowed whole!
You really do know how to be in the right place at the right time! Fantastic shots!
I am always so amazed to see these birds swallow such large objects. Fantastic action sequence, love the shots.
Excellent sequence Phil
Great blog! So that whole huge flounder ended its whole life as just another lunch for woody?? Does the poor fish get swallowed wriggling down that long neck??
