Alligator In The Salt Marsh

Last night we watched an alligator head into the salt marsh at low tide. The gator would weave in and around the oyster beds stopping to scoop up small fish that it would trap against the edge of the marsh mud.

If you look carefully at the last photo you can see a fish diving out of the water just ahead of the splash in front of the gator’s nose. Alligators do not live in the salt marsh, but they will visit for short periods of time to hunt for a meal.
