Scattering The Flock!
Earlier this evening we were watching a large group of white ibis feeding in the salt marsh.
Suddenly the entire group flew up in a panic and scattered in all directions.
We have witnessed this in the past and immediately our eyes turned to the sky above and sure enough…gliding in just above the trees was a bald eagle!
This one is a juvenile, it’s head and tail feathers have not yet started to turn white. But any eagle will get the flock to scatter and that certainly was the case this time.

Nice sight to see. Great catch!

The shot is really nothing special, it was just kind of a quick grab, but it is a cool bird!
Thanks Lucy!

Thanks a million! I did get lucky managing to snap off a few quick grabs as it went by, lighting and bird position was not the best but I was happy to see it for sure.

I just read in the comment that you didn’t like the light. I kind of like the spotty light but what I know. :+)

Well I would prefer if the wings were lit a bit better but then again I’m probably just being picky! 🙂
Thanks for checking out the photo!

It’s OK picky is a good thing. I need to learn to be more picky in my writing and with my photos. :+)

Beautiful shot. We had some juvenile bald eagles fly over Morro Rock – home to local Peregrine Falcons…the Bald Eagles were no match for the speed of the Peregrine’s…the Falcons chased them off. It was interesting. Nice work Phil.

Oh yeah those peregrines are super fast flyers! I’ve seen them in action.
The bald eagles can usually bully around an osprey that’s carrying a fish. An eagle will often prefer that another bird do the work if at all possible.:-)
