Shaking Off

I saw this osprey yesterday evening shaking off water after diving down into the marsh pond in an attempt to snag a fish. No luck for the osprey this time…the fish got away and the osprey got drenched!

    • Thanks a bunch Callie, I appreciate you checking out the pic! And yes, he had a lot of water come off of him.
I have seen them shake off many times including over the ocean but in normal front lighting I guess you don’t realize how wet the bird gets.

  1. What perfect timing and lighting. How much time do you spend down in your swamp? Your shots seem to indicate a whole lot of patience for that right moment. I know these guys don’t perform on cue.

    • Thank you Gunta! I spend a fair amount of time in that area, I went over twice today.
Got bald eagles and pelican flights. I’ll probably post the bald eagle Tue.
True they don’t perform on cue. As much as I try to give them direction they never seem to pay any attention to me.

  2. Every time I think I can’t be more impressed by your work, I am. Terrific photo. I love our ospreys – I’m just convinced the same pair has been coming back to one of my marinas for three years. They’re fond of perching on the masts in between fishing expeditions, and it’s such fun listening to them “talk” to one another.

    • Well thanks very much for looking and this photo and your very kind comment!
I checked out that link to that award winning photo. It’s a super shot and sounds like a great one to have on your Visa!
I should get an alligator pic on mine. ๐Ÿ˜€

      • You’re welcome! It’s my pleasure to see the pics you’ve taken because they’re always amazing ๐Ÿ™‚
Hahahaha indeed! An alligator on a Visa would be cool indeed… or different, at least ๐Ÿ˜€
