The Spoonbills Have Arrived!
This past weekend we heard that about a dozen Roseate Spoonbills had arrived. Yesterday we decided to go have a look! We were excited to see several start right away with bathing, followed of course, by feeding. There were a mix of mature adult birds, along side several juveniles.
It was nice to see them as early as May this year. I can remember that in past years we wouldn’t see any until early July.
Great to see our fun and active pink friends around the salt marsh again!

Always look forward to your Spoonbill photos… fantastic as usual!
Thanks a bunch! We’re always happy to see the spoonbills arrive each year.
The color is marvelous, of course, but those silly ‘spoons’ and the fuzzy heads of the juveniles are just as much fun. It’s good that they’ve arrived — your photos are wonderful.
I’m glad you liked seeing our first batch of Spoonbills. As usual they did indeed quickly start acting silly. I was actually surprised to see several mature birds in the early group, we normally start off with the youngsters and wait for some of the more deeply colored spoonies to show up.
Great pictures! Have missed your pictures and comments.
I greatly appreciate you checking these out and happy you enjoyed the pics! I plan to Get out there more often, we’ll see.
It’s always fun when the spoonies show up. Beautiful shots!
Oh they can usually be counted on to provide a show! These pink birds can stop traffic. lol
