Flight of the “Tweener”

Here’s a shot from Wed. morning.

The Little Blue Heron is all white as a juvenile. As it gets older it morphs into an in between stage on it’s way to becoming a mostly all blue adult. These I call “tweeners”. No longer all white, and not quite yet a solid color. They are a patchwork of blue and white at this phase.

  1. I had no idea they did this! Beautiful photo….hey, ran into a gorgeous three toed box turtle walking down the pathway during my alligator tour yesterday. He was huge….must have been an old one. also got to witness a green heron fight…..guess it was over a woman. lol
