Alligator Feeding in Salt Marsh 02

  1. Phil, I use to live in Sarasota, Florida and we went to a park down by Naples to see the gators. We would feed them marshmallows. It was amazing how some of these huge monsters could even feel something so small hit the water much lees scoop it up and eat them. We would bring them right up on the shore sometimes with a trail of marshmallows. One day a park ranger saw us doing this and stopped to talk. We had about a 8 footer on the bank and the rangers asked if we knew how fast a gator could run. We looked at it and with it’s short legs we figured not very fast. He told us one the size we had out could outrun a cow and then asked if any of us could outrun a cow. The marshmallows started going farther and farther away until it was far back out in the water. Great shots. Found your blog through UHH.

    1. Hi Jimi, thanks for looking and commenting on these photos. That ranger was correct, alligators can move and run quite fast. And it is a very bad idea to feed wild alligators for a variety of reasons.
Thanks again for checking out my blog!
      See ya,
      Phil
