Return Of The Roseate Spoonbills!
It has been almost three weeks since we have seen any Roseate Spoonbills in the area, so last night we were pleasantly surprised to see three come flying into the marsh.
One chose to rest in a far off tree while the remaining two landed in the salt marsh in hopes of grabbing a late meal.
They spent a little time picking around in the water, even joining some White Ibis at one point.
But all too quickly the pair decided they needed to leave and go join their friend in the tree who was sitting with a group pf Egrets and Wood Storks.
That’s where we last saw them but we have hopes they will stay in the marsh area for a nice long visit!

The beauty of these birds never cease to amaze me! As do your captures of them! (BTW, they match you flowers!LOL)
Yeah I like them quite a bit and always take way too many photos of them whenever I see them, can’t help it.
Glad you like these and yeah they do match the baby gator’s little flower arrangement! 🙂
I have total respect and admiration of your photography! These photos are stunning…unbelievable!
Thanks very much for looking and for your kind words Vicki! I truly appreciate your interest and I’m so glad you like my photos!
Phil, I see you on UHH. I’m always amazed. You make the very best of wonderful photo opportunities. I have never seen a roseate spoonbill in person. You make them come alive so that I FEEL that I have. 🙂 Thanks.
I really appreciate you stopping by and also your very kind comments Vicki! So glad you enjoyed seeing these photos!
I have never seen anything like this. Amazingly beautiful. Funny name for a gorgeous bird. They look a little bit vain, no wonder, they have spotted your camera and make the most of it.:-)
Your saltmarshes are so totally different to the ones in North Norfolk, UK:
Have a lovely week!
Greetings
Dina
Well I’m so happy you checked out these photos Dina and really happy you enjoyed seeing the goofy spoonies!
Sometimes they do appear to be playing it up for the camera and trust me, several of these birds (or even one) can draw a little bit of a crowd of photographers on ocassion too. Everyone loves to observe and photograph these interesting birds.
I guess the salt marshes in our area can be alomost tropical in summer especailly. Must be different from the UK marsh for sure.
Cheers
Phil
