Fun Little Tricolored Herons
I was looking back through my files at some photos of one of my favorite little birds, the tricolored heron, and I realized that I hadn’t posted any pictures of them lately.
These little guys are fun and interesting to watch as they carefully and patiently stalk minnows in the marsh. So…here are two different birds, on two different days, in two different settings.

Magic photo. You are the best !
Grazie Giovanna. Lei è molto gentile. 🙂
Beautiful, Phil. They’ve got incredibly red eyes!I really like the first photo, with that clear reflection on the water.
Thanks a million Gracie, glad you like these pics!
They are very endearing. I can see why you like them Phil.
Yes sometimes I tend to overlook them but when I stop to watch for a while I’m always happy I did. 🙂
Greatserie of photos!
Lovely to see!
Thank you Hans, I appreciate you looking!
Fantastic set of images Phil.

Nice images, Phil, and lovely colours.
I appreciate it Mike.
These are, as your other pictures, GREAT! 🙂 I like the reflections and the bird is very pretty.
I’m very happy you like them and thanks for commenting!
“Who’s a pretty boy then?” No, not you. Phil. 😀 Great photos again, and I think these two birds do rate as the prettiest of them all.
Oh no, definitely not me. 😯 😀
Thanks Sylvia, glad to hear you like these cool looking little guys!
Hey I have a baby in the swamp queued up for tomorrow!
I can hardly contain my excitement. I’m sure I won’t be able to sleep a wink. 😕
Humm…somehow…I seem to be detecting juuuust a wee bit of insincerity in that remark.
But surely that can’t possibly be. 😯 Ha! 😆
Bellissime, sembra sia quasi possibile toccarli da tanto sono stupende queste tue foto
Ciao, Pat

Thank a bunch Molly! At times I might pass this one by but I shouldn’t becaue they often do provide entertainment and good photo ops. 😀
These are wonderful photos Phil ! Such a special little heron, and the reflection in the first photo is simply spectacular!

I love your photos..are you kidding? I search for your posts every day. 🙂
That is really nice to hear. I’m sincerely flattered. 😳 🙂
Well, I’m glad you found these photos! Thanks for sharing. They are great!
Thanks, they are only from a bit earlier this season so not too old. Glad you like them!
Love the reflection. They all have beautiful colors and tones.
Thank you, yes the tris are cool looking birds.
Great looking bird but it sure seems to have big feet!
It is a nice looking bird and they are waders, so they need large enough feet to get around the marsh without stumbling over things. 🙂
Se ven preciosas, y esos reflejos en el agua maravillosos!!
Estoy tan feliz te gustan estas fotos!
When you call them little, what size are they?
Well not little like a cardinal or blue jay, but less then half the size of a great blue heron or great egret if that gives you an idea.
Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous!
I’m happy you like these Dina!
