Another Swampy Morning
Yesterday morning, after the early fog began to lift, I headed over to the swamp to check on potential activity.
I quickly saw a group of three alligators sitting out waiting and hoping that some warm sunshine would come their way. It did, and they seemed fairly content.
The usual coots and moorhens were in attendance going about their business often under the watchful but disinterested gaze of a gator.
Just as I was about to leave I saw something crunching through the dried reeds. It turned out to be this young alligator who wandered out, propped itself up, and sat there looking at me like a frog on a lily pad.

He looks really scary! Gosh Phil, I hope you can run fast!

They are (well hopefully) too lazy to run this time of year. 🙂

Good grief! Do alligators eat frogs on lily pads? That scaly juvenile definitely had his beady eyes trained on you. I think your middle name must be ‘Fearless’. I’m still wondering why alligators don’t eat duck. 😕

I really did not trust the look that guy was giving me in the last shot. I think he may have been up to something.
His friends were OK but this guy had ‘the boy ain’t right’ look. 😯
The gators don’t bother the birds much this time of year. Well at least that’s what the birds are counting on. 🙂

I see why that was your last shot. Glad it wasn’t your final shot. 😯

if i saw an alligator you might see a blurry picture of me running the other way

Just remember, if an alligator starts chasing you, you don’t have to be able to run faster then the gator, you only have to run faster then the person next to you. 😀

Nah! He’s not the cute little chappy I was imagining from your intro. Scrowling down the page my first impression was, not cute. The second, just how long is that lens Phil is using here.. Great pictures as always. 🙂

Great photos! The only thing that gives ‘little froggy’ away as a youngster are his teeth. Still he looks quite menacing!

Yeah that little dude had just a bit of a disturbing look on his face. It will serve him well if it scares off any of the bigger ones, but I have a feeling they won’t be impressed.
Thanks very much Molly!

Wicked photos ……….. helloooooooooooo from Greece (I’m shouting so you can hear me). Wrap me up a gator and put it under the Christmas tree won’t you? I want to set it on my dumb neighbours 🙂

Hi Joanna! Yes I hear you!! 🙂 I have arranged for a FedEx pickup and a gator should be jetting it’s way over to you in plenty of time for Christmas!
They make great gifts don’t they?!? Humm, well, now that I think of it I suppose it could get cranky and there is the possibility it could spoil Christmas. BUT. You have hit on a great plan! Yes of course immediately set it on your dumb neighbours! The alligators love to annoy dumb people. 😀
