Slow Glide
This past weekend’s mild temps and bright sky brought out a few alligators into the swamp to soak up a little pleasant sunshine.
This big guy was taking his time doing a nice slow glide through the swamp on his way to picking out a comfy spot to nap away the day in the warm sun!

I love the colours and reflections in these shots Phil. Superb as ever. 🙂

Thanks! He is swimming. They use only their tail to swim, no feet. 🙂

Nice shots Phil. My first thought when I saw the title was being at a concert many years ago….Foghat “Slow Ride” 🙂

They are always a treat to see for sure. Well for me anyway, not everybody loves them I guess. 🙂

The local birds can tell that this gator poses no immediate threat – they do not hunt that high in the water. I’ve actually seen a bird land on the back of a drifting gator like that. Alas, no camera at hand. Now, when you see nothing but nostrils and eyeballs … here comes the Big Gulp!
Great shots as usual, Phil. Keep ’em coming!

And I thought that it is at times cold and you keep the alligators winter sleep and nothing to eat, but not be so.
LG Mathilda 🙂

Well we had our fun for the week with temps around 24C but last night it all changed and got closer to 5C this morning.
I seriously froze out there this afternoon.
Thanks for checking these out I’m glad you like the alligators Jan.

He makes it look so easy. And for him I guess it is.
Glad I got the pics of them that I have because it got cold last night down to 4C and I froze out there this afternoon.

Thanks Molly, it was nice to see this guy, he even chased off one of the smaller ones which is rare for us this time of year where normally they can’t be bothered.

I know what you mean. We both had colds here and took two and a half weeks to get over it and 3 weeks later I’m still not really over it.
I bet alligators don’t even get colds. 😕 😀
