A Very Busy Eagle
This bald eagle was all over the salt marsh yesterday afternoon. It was using a nearby pine tree as a base of operations from where it would swoop down and grab a fish and then bring the fish back to the tree to eat. We saw it do that several times.
I have quite a few photos of this whole event and will post more tomorrow but for now I just wanted to give you an idea of how close it flew over our heads at one point on it’s way back to home base with a fish.

hope he is out in the morning.

He sure looked like he enjoyed it. He bit off the head of the fish. 😯

Isn’t he your pet yet ? Surely he knows you well and loves to visit while you’re around.

He just got tired of the alligators getting all the screen time around here. I understood the message loud and clear when he buzzed me. He came in close, I got several frames that were just body parts. 😀

Looks like he got the memo, and decided to carry the fish in his talons like a REAL eagle. And that glare on his face – I SWEAR he’s the spitting image of my ex-wife! 🙂

After the previous public embarrasment of being caught flying with a fish in his mouth, it does indeed look like he got the memo. Many dive bombing my head was a little hint. 🙂
Sorry to bring up bad memories of your ex. 😯

I was so taken with the expression in his eye I missed the fish at first. It looks like they carry their dinner a little different than the osprey I watch – I always worry the osprey are going to drop their fish. They look like a blimp with its little gondola hanging down!
I’m anxious to see the other photos. This one’s a stunner!

The eagles will do that also, they sometimes hold a fish, especially a smaller one, using just one talon so it kind of dangles and wobbles as they fly. Of course often when we see an osprey flying along with a fish, an eagle soon comes charging in after it.
I’m happy you like this photo and Part One of the series will be up shortly!

I do like that angle with the feet holding the fish against the backlit tail feathers.

Thanks very much! This actually happened after the previous two posts I just made.
The eagle went in and grabbed another fish, this time it took the fish from a GBH in the marsh.
