How Many Birds?
I photographed this group flight of little shore birds as they zipped across the salt marsh this morning.
Can you count them?!
I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.

Can you count them?!

Eh no, non ci riesco 🙂
Grazie a te 🙂
Spero che tu abbia una grande settimana Pat
Wow… A lot 🙂 beautiful image.
“A lot” is a correct answer. I will also accept ‘butt load’. Thanks 😀
Wow! That’s a lot of birds. What an awesome capture, Phil. You seem to always be at the right place, at the right time 😉
Thanks much Gracie! Not my usual fare but thought I would toss this one up anyway.
I was going to say another kind of load, but thought better of it. Great image, Phil! Love the movement.
Your answer would count as correct also Jane. 😀 Thanks for checking this out,
I gave up counting them. 😀 Beautiful pic.
It can be frustrating. Thank you for looking and counting! 😀
I’m always up for a good challenge :). I’m thinking there’s around 45 or so (not including the reflections) LOL. Remember how I told you that my parents go down to Isle of Palms in the winter? A couple of years ago we went down during March Break to visit them, and I took a picture of a flock of birds on the beach while I was standing in the middle of them, and I posted it on my blog. You might enjoy it – here’s the link:

Did you count the one at the bottom, center? There is one that is not a reflection.
Checked out your bird group shot. Wow! What a mob!
Thanks for looking and commenting! 🙂
Darn, I wasn’t sure about that one at the bottom – whether it was a reflection or not :).
So OK with the 45 you saw first plus the one at the bottom the total of 46 is correct! Nicely done!
Yayyy!! 🙂
😀
What an awsome capture, love all the new additions!
Hey thanks very much Ammi, great seeing you here! Thanks for looking and commenting!
Say hi to mum.
That’s just breathtaking!! Thanks, Phil.
Well I appreciate the kind words Amy! Thanks
That’s much more like the sort of bird shots I get…. flying away and at a distance. Still a great capture. Any idea what they are? Thought maybe ducks at first, but the bills don’t look right.
Thanks Gunta! These would be plovers and sandpipers but we just call ’em peeps. 🙂
I think I got all 46. You do have a lot of friends!
Correct! 46 is indeed the total. Good eye to spot and count them all!
What an awesome capture! I often see the White Ibis in flocks to numerous to count with some Storks and Egrets mixed in. I plan on going out shooting this week before I miss all of this action. I just hope I haven’t forgotten how!
Thanks for checking this out Molly I appreciate it.
Hope you have a great time shooting this weekend and let me know how ya make out!
Too many to count at this time of night, Phil, but I’ll take a guess at 40. 🙂 Amazing photo.
Close Sylvia, it’s 46. But thank you very much for playing and please continue to tune in every day for yet another exciting episode of Life in the Marsh. 😛 😀 Ok, well “exciting” isn’t the proper term. Maybe wonderful episode? No that’s not right either. How about fairly much Ok episode? 😕 That might work. 🙂
😆
Excellent shot!!!
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Excellent Phil, not that easy to catch.
Thanks Jan, those little buggers do go by fast. 😯 🙂
Captured in flight we get to see the gorgeous markings on these birds. As to your question, if you’ll still accept ‘butt load’ I’ll go with that. 🙂
Thanks for cheking this out Adrian! You indeed have a winning answer with butt load! 😀 That’s actually the technical term used by all the experts around here anyway. 🙂
50? That’s a lot of birds!
50 would be incorrect, it’s 46 total. However…”a lot” *is* a correct answer. 🙂 Thanks Gareth!
This is wonderful.
How fantastic to see them all in one place and be able to photograph them.
There were a few groups of them zipping all around the marsh. Fun to see!
Wow, too many! Great photo!
Thanks! It is fun to see these large groups zipping around in all directions.
I was pretty close, I got 45 too. Great shot, you’re so lucky to see these little cuties.
Thnaks Emily! I ususally don’t pay a lot of attention to the ‘peeps’ but when I saw these larger groups I had to bang off a few shots. 🙂
Nice shot
Thanks much
Me Has Tenido Un Tiempo Contando Pajaros… Muy Buena FotografÃa… Un Saluo.
Espero que te hayas divertido contarlas. gracias
jajajaja, Asà Ha Sido,… y Realmente Son 46…
Que maravilla, el vuelo de todos tiene que ser muy ruidoso ¿no?
Estás en lo cierto, ellos hacen algo de ruido. También hacen chillido estridente 🙂
