All Fluffed Up…
Snowy Egrets can often be quite entertaining to watch and photograph. They are easily excitable and will fluff themselves up whenever they get annoyed which seems to frequently be the case. In the next to last picture that snowy looks like it practically exploded…although his friends do not seem at all impressed. I think that aggravates them even more, to go through all that effort and then be ignored is not the expected and hoped for reaction!
I have a boss who’s exactly the same!
That seems to be a common theme for bosses. 🙂
Excellent shots, Phil. And here’s me thinking he was just having a bad hair day! LOL!
Thanks very much Gracie, he did have a lot of hair out of place. 🙂
Thanks for looking.
Was für ein wunderschöner und filigraner Vogel…ich mag ihn sehr.
LG Mathilda 😉

That is funny. It looks as though he/she’s spent too much time in make-up before making and entrance. Very entertaining as you say Phil. Brilliant shots! 🙂
Thanks much Adrian, I’m glad you enjoyed these!
Great and funny photos!
Thank you Hans I appreciate your kind words!
Gorgeous shots of plumage. Looks a bit like some of the whackier hats seen on the British racecourse meets.
Thanks gla dyou liked htese pics!
That’s probably how they got the idea for some of those hats. Wacky indeed! 😀
Ufffff… Cada Vez Que Te Visito Me Sorprendes Más… Muy Buena Serie, Muy Buena… Un Saludo.
Estoy muy feliz de que haya disfrutado de estas fotos 😀
Out here, our egrets are generally solitary and I’ve never seen one all fluffed up. Possibly because there’s no one around to impress?
Here the snowys particularly often hang around in small groups. Of course they are completely unable to get along so I wonder why they stay together. 😕 🙂
A very beautyfull bird and great photos.
Thank you much for looking and commenting!
That looks to me like the avian equivalent of “I’m going to huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll….eh….just stand here and try not to feel like a fool that everyone’s ignoring me!” Hilarious photos – and so unique!
That sounds about right! Thanks very much for checking out these photos I greatly appreciate it!
Prima Dona??? LOL.. Great shots!
I’m thinking so…Ha! Thanks Sally 🙂
Excellent and funny shots. 🙂
Thank you I’m happy you like them!
Very good shots, Phil!
I appreciate you looking Gareth thanks!
WOW ! These are absolutely amazing photos. The best I’ve ever seen. Makes me think of the 1980’s song,
I uh am.. a punk rocker. I uh am… a punk rocker
Oh he’s rockin’ alright!
Thanks much for checking these out Emily and I’m happy you enjoyed them!
That is impressive! Have you ever tried it?
Oh it’s impressive alright! Or maybe not from the looks of the other snowys.
I was about to get fluffed up myself yesterday afternoon. I was set up on a bald eagle in a tree when some lady and her kid went into the woods under it and started yelling and banging around causing the eagle to leave prematurly.
There’s a reason to fluff!
It sure is!
🙂 Impressive!!! Excellent shots!!!
Thanks! So glad you liked them!
They’re so beautiful and not beautiful all in one. Love the pics, Phil 🙂
I know exactly what you mean. 🙂 It’s a big reason I feel compelled to watch their antics and photograph it as much as possible.
Glad you enjoyed these photos!
absolutely fantastic, Phil! Great shots and…. thank you for the loud laugh this morning 🙂
I’m really glad you enjoyed these! Thanks very much for looking and commenting!
This is one beautiful bird. The fethers are quite beautiful.
They do look considerably more interesting and attractive when fluffed up I think. 🙂
I love these birds and seeing their feathers blowing like that is magical.
I’m very happy you enjoyed seeing the snowy! They are wonderful birds and fun to watch!
Thank you for showing these outstanding photos !! What a nice bird and what great effects you got with making it angry;-) Seems it wasn’t too angry, it stood there:-) Congratulations, LG Thee
I think it was mostly trying to intimidate and impress it’s friends and they can be very amusing when they get that attitude! 🙂 I enjoy watching them very much.
Thank you so much for looking and commenting I appreciate it!
I wish we had more exiting birds in Switzerland:-)
Well you sure have many amazing scenics in Switzerland that’s for sure!
Such pretty hair-does! Can you ask who their hair stylist is for me? 😀
It is some hair-do no doubt about it! 🙂 I’ll ask around and see what I can come up with. Don’t know for sure but I’m guessing it involves lots of hair gel. 😕 😀
Gosh, I LOVE this set! An egret putting on a show – so elegant! Fabulous, Phil!
Thank you so much Karen, glad you like these! They do put on a show when they get those attitudes, and I’m happy when I’m there to see it.
Hahaha these are hilarious! I love the last one when you finally see that his companions are totally unimpressed by his hissy fit! 😀
Thanks so much Lucy, I’m glad you enjoyed these! That was the best part at the end how his friends were totally ignoring the tantrum! 😀
Very interesting! I always learn something when I read your posts. Great work again!
I greatly appreciate the kind comments Rick, thanks much!
