The Bleacher Seats
When I first saw this brown pelican gliding along the salt marsh scooping up some fish, it seemed like he had a crowd of spectators lining the upper deck seating area watching the performance. I quickly realized however, that the snowy egrets were paying absolutely no attention at all to the pelican. They were completely preoccupied with their own preening and seemed to have no interest at all in the pelican’s fishing action and technique! I thought the pelican might have hung his head down a bit and had a sort of dejected look on his face after failing to impress the fans in the seats.

A lovely post!So much to see in your composition.

Thanks Molly! I was impressed with Mr. Pelican but does not look like he has many fans in snowy egret world.

I think those snowys were singing that Shania Twain song, “That don’t impress me much. ” 😀 Mr Pelican does look somewhat deflated in that last pic. Great photos again, Phil.

Yes he does look a bit deflated. Imagine being out in front of a huge (well six) crowd and have your best efforts go unappreciated?! It’s tragic is what it is. (Ok well not really but you know what I mean) 😛 😀
Thanks for looking Sylvia!

This is a perfect title for a wonderfully fun scene ! Funny how they were all preening at the same time. Almost like they were giving the pelican a bow for his performance.

Thanks a million Emily, glad you liked these pics! Yes I thought what was funny was how all the snowys were preening and ignoring the poor neglected pelican. 😦 😀

That’s a nice balance between the pelican in the water and the other (and lighter) birds on land.

Good story. And the whole bunch also seemed to be ignoring you as well.

I’m happy you liked the story, and ignoring me is typical. Bad enough I have friends that ignore me, I have to get the same treatment out in the marsh?! 😦

It must be nice to have your own cheerleading squad!

That squad may lose their jobs though, they don’t quite seem to have the required or expected energy. 😕 🙂

It really does look like he failed to impress Phil.. Poor thing. Those snowies are all so vain and self-obsessed. He needs to find an easier crowd! Great pictures. 🙂
