Eagle In The Afternoon
Yesterday afternoon we were watching this bald eagle that was sitting in a pine tree at the edge of the salt marsh. I grabbed a few shots as she took off. I say ‘she’ because I believe this is the female half of the mated pair that has been lurking around that area for a while now. The male that we had been seeing her with was younger and still had some dark streaks on his head. Always a treat to see these impressive birds in flight and we are happy they are still maintaining a presence around the marsh!

Absolutely gorgeous!
Glad you like ’em! 🙂
You are fortunate to be able to see these beautiful birds so often. Great shots.
Thanks Lyle, yes we are happy to have them around. Unfortunately, they often do not coordinate their schedule with mine. I expect them to be available for photo ops whenever I show up but rudely, they frequently have other plans. 😦
Great shots Phil, the Bald Eagle is very impressive bird.
Thanks Jan, yes it always is great to see these wonderful birds.
Cool! It is my understanding that females are larger. Glad to hear…..they may be starting a family 🙂
Thanks Ricky! Yes we have seen them side by side and the younger bird with the dark streaks still on his head, looks smaller so we strongly believe this one is the female.
They are staying in the area but it could be next year before we know if they will commit to a nest and family here.
Beautifully captured, Phil! I love how the eagle on the first photo looks like he’s about to burst out of my screen.
Thank you Gracie, I’m happy you enjoyed these eagle photos!
Love the photos…I wouldn’t want to be what she was eyeing on the ground.
Thanks! Yes I feel the same way, when they get that ‘look’, I’m glad I’m not what they are looking at. 😯
Beautiful photo, as always of the eagles!
I’m so glad you like them1
Always so nice to see the bald eagles Phil. Smashing pictures as always.
Thanks very much Adrian, nice to know you enjoy the eagles!
The bald eagles are such beauties and your photos are just great !
The only eagle i´ve seen where i live is the Golden eagle… And it was at one of the few times that i did not have my camera with me ….. // Maria
I’m very happy you like the eagles and my photos, thanks Maria!
Too bad you missed getting pics of the golden, that would have been terrific!
We have a pair that are seen quite often near our hangar at Melbourne International Airport, in Florida. I have not been able to get a picture that show their power like these shots do. Very nicely done.
Thanks very much for looking and commenting Janet and I’m happy you like the pics!
Hope you get some great photos of your local pair.
How fortunate you were to capture this.
Beautifully done!
I feel fortunate as well Lisa, thanks very much!
Magic shots and so sharp, love how there feet are curled up. I love eagles they are regal creatures.
cheers Callie
Thank you Callie! I would not want to be on the receiving end of those sky hooks when they let them loose and at the ready!
What amazing two shots! The pics are so sharp. Was she high and fast? Thank YOU, Phil!
Thanks a million Amy, glad you liked these!
Yes she was up there pretty high, but luckily just close enough to be able to get shots when she left the tree.
It does happen very fast, you blink and it’s over. I waited almost an hour and a half for her to leave and I had to be alert and ready the entire time.
Thank you for taking time to explain to me! Your photos always remind me the Nature program on PBS, which prompted me to wonder how much time you’d take to shoot these awesome pics. I feel lucky to be able to enjoy these exquisite pics almost everyday with just one click. Thanks again!
Beautiful shots, Phil. The clarity is remarkable.
Well I greatly appreciate your kind comments, thanks!
Beautiful shots of this magnificent bird.
Thanks much I appreciate it!
