There Goes The Neighborhood
This afternoon in the salt marsh a great egret had a nice fishing spot all to himself. Then IT happened…It starts innocently enough, a few snowys show up and start working your area. But the snowys rarely limit it to just a few…so the next thing you know there are yet more of them. A short time later and it’s a total mob scene! Notice how in the last photo the egret appears to have given up and is hanging his head dejectedly?! So that was the end of the poor egret’s quiet day of fishing, the snowy invasion had begun!

Your stories are as enjoyable as your photos, Phil 🙂

So pretty, yet such a paid in the neck for the poor egret! Love the story, Phil!

The poor egret was very likely annoyed I suspect, but such is life in the marsh especially with a hot fishing spot!

I just hate when them snowies bust into a delicious bit of solitude. And I bet there was plenty of room elsewhere for them.

Oh that’s always the case especially with the snowys, there is a whole huge marsh to spread out in but what do they do? They all jam up in one area and annoy the other birds! 🙂

And those goofy snowys sure have numbers which sometimes works out well for them but sometimes it doesn’t if they all start arguing at the same time.

Lovely photos … I feel sorry for the Egret … It´s not always easy to be big and kind to the birds smaller than yourself … // Maria

Thanks very much Maria! The egret did end up being nice to the smaller snowys. He did not chase any off he let them alone to catch their tiny fish like they always do.
