Morning Walk
Yesterday morning we were out by the swamp and as usual at this time of year you have to keep an eye open for whoever and whatever might come creeping up out of the brush. I noticed a bit of movement on the marsh pond side and then saw a nose, and ultimately a big face coming up to peek out to take a look around. So our old friend Mr. Gator had decided to walk up out of the marsh and stroll on into the swamp by crossing a paved path that separates the two. Before beginning his short journey however, he took a little time to rest his chin on the path before continuing on. I don’t think he was really all that tired, but on such a beautiful morning as this…what’s the rush?!

Well, Hello… great shots. I love how they look when walking about!

Hello is right! Especially when they sneak up out of there without making a sound. You would think they would make a racket busting up out of the brush, but nothing.
It is cool to see them walking. Thanks Jane

Yes that could be and he might not have been happy waiting either. We got there a little late yesterday morning.
About a half hour after this his friend also popped out of there and took a little walk. Well, maybe “popped” isn’t exactly the right word. 🙂

Love the shots! Thanks to you, I’m kinda dying to see an alligator up close. This lazy gator reminded me of Teddy, having to stop every few feet for a rest before continuing on.

You come down for a visit and I will set up a personal meeting for you with our pal here!
He reminded me of Teddy as well, with that toothy know-it-all grin and that look on his face when he is particularly impressed with himself as I suspect Teddy often is. 😀

Oh you know Ted well – must take after your two furballs? Score on the personal meeting…be sure I haven’t had too much to drink when I see him because I might try to pet him and come back with one less limb…

“Hey, aren’t you the guy that got that really cool photo of me crunching a big crab?! Oh man I looked so great in that picture!”
At least that’s what he *might* be thinking.
I won’t mention that remark about his stubby little legs to him. heh heh 🙂

Thanks for not telling him what I said about the vertically challenged legs. Don’t want to upset him, do we?

I think he had to take a brief rest after trying to haul around that weight. My what big jowls he has! And my, what great photos!

He did have to climb up out of a bit on an incline so he was likely winded from that workout.
Thanks very much Molly, glad you enjoyed seeing Mr. Gator!

When they walk like this they really lumber along fairly slowly, but I have seen them run, and I mean run.
They can be deceptively quick.

There’s so many amazing creatures where you live but these are my favourites by far. I’ve never seen them “life” but your photo’s are so vivid I can almost see them move. Looking at them (the gators, I mean) it’s not hard to imaging how they managed to survive for 37 million !! years : they have such a determined an invincible look.

We do have an interesting variety of wildlife in this area and I too am fascinated by the alligators and I respect them as well. They are the closest thing we have to a living dinosaur I think.
Saw several this morning and posted more pics today.
