Wood Storks In Love?!

Earlier this week I noticed this pair of wood storks close together in the salt marsh at low tide. At first they both seemed to be just fishing, then I saw that they were getting more than a little friendly. When I saw that they apparently started grooming each other I had to move in for a closer look. Yes…these two sure looked like they were in love. It must be Spring!

Ah even woodstorks seem tender with each other during the season of love!! My hubbie doesn’t understand why I love these ‘ugly bald birds.’ But, I love them. Since the neck has the texture of flint like you’d strike a match on, one of their nicknames is “Old Flinthead” and I like that one. The are also called Wood Ibises and are closely related to the regular Ibis oddly I guess you can see it in the curvature of the bill.
