Group Portrait
I mentioned previously how excited we were that our favorite pink visitors, the roseate spoonbills, arrived in our area this week. At first only one showed up, followed by a second one two days later, and then last night three more came making the total five. We found the group out in the salt marsh this afternoon and I thought I would post up a quick group shot for you all to check out. Everyone here is thrilled!
Yea!

Yea indeed!
Fabulous!
We were super happy to see them!
Tickled pink, I’d say! So glad you’re attracting a crowd, Phil. How many have come to stay previous years?
It all started in 2009 when a group of 11 arrived and stayed all summer into the fall. Since then we have had some show up traditionally in late June or early July. So these spoonies are maybe a little early but that’s OK. 🙂
Love the photo…what a fun looking group.
Glad you liked this group photo! They seemed to want to stay together, one flew off followed quickly by the others one by one.
Wow! Five! That’s amazing! They truly are beautiful celebrities!
They really are local celebs and are fully capable of stopping traffic if they come in close!
They are a very handsome group, Phil. They really add some glamour to the salt marsh. Love the different shades of pink. I hope they stay for a while so you can get more pics. 🙂
They are quite the snazzy group for sure Sylvia. The two adults in the background look like doting parents to the juveniles in the front. As they age the color and brightness of their feathers change as well as their eye color!
I got flight shots coming up soon, so stay tuned! 🙂
Great photo, wonderful group of Spoonbills.
Thank you Jan they are quite the fun group!
What a lovely group! ▲
I’m so glad you like this group photo!
I love the contrast here. Great photo.
Thank you and they really do stand out against the ‘moonscape’ of the salt marsh at low tide.
