I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
Right now most of the brown pelicans we see are flying around the beach area, but at certain times of the year they will come into the salt marsh at high tide to get some fishing done.
You are right Sylvia they are big birds and also good point about the splash. Normally these guys hit the water like they were just tossed out of a moving vehicle, but this one actually looked somewhat graceful. 😀
Wonderful capture, there huge !
Thanks, for checking these out and glad you liked seeing the pelican!
Love that top shot. Really shows the face so perfectly and nice wingspread!
Well they sure have some face! Thanks for checking these out Judy.
Fantastic images Phil but I love the second one. The symmetry between the pelican and the shadow is incredible.
I’m glad you liked seeing the pelican Judy and these guys do have a wide wing span!
Wow! He’s really big, but he made a great landing with hardly a splash. Great captures, Phil. 🙂

A wonderful part of our community.
His beak looks like a lethal weapon 😀 Marvelous wing reflections painting a letter c 😀
Huge guy! These are one of my favorites — I love their size and coloring.
Beautiful! The Hercules of the bird world!
They’re just coming to visit you! Great head-on shots.
