I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
Last week we had a good size crowd of wood storks coming and going all evening. They almost always arrived one at a time and they kept at it for about an hour and a half until the entire salt marsh area was warmed by setting sunlight.
Well their faces could be considered more of a nightmare to some, but I like them fine. Plus I’m trying to take advantage of these big guys while I can because like the spoonies, the storks will soon move on.
I just love the wood storks. The sunset light in the last shot is so pretty. These guys are fun to see, and I like how their flight(s) was captured. Sounds like it was a busy airport evening! π
Beautiful pictures, I love the colors….
Thanks Linda, glad to know you enjoyed seeing the wood stork flights.
Really awesome shots, Phil. Lucky you to have so many of these birds visiting. π
Thank you Sylvia, too pink our pink friends left so early but I have lots of file shots of them to keep me busy for a while. π
That’s a photographer’s dream and you took full advantage.

I do love your evening light, Phil! The clarity of these pictures is brilliant!
It’s my favorite time out there Maggie, thanks for looking!

It was busy out there! Air traffic control had apparently lost all control. These guys were coming in from all directions! π
You always post beautiful images, Phil, and these are no exception. Great captures!
I greatly appreciate that Katrina, thank you!
