All Fluffed Up And No Place To Go
The great blue heron’s flair for the dramatic is well known. The one thing a blue heron never wants to be is ignored.
They often make loud comments to announce their arrival or departure, or for apparently no reason at all, at least not to us.
Great blue herons seem to be quite fond of making any type of display possible, at any time they might choose. Earlier this week we saw this great blue get himself in a totally all fluffed up state for reasons, once again, unknown to us.
But as long as he’s having a good time who are we to argue or question the reason why?
Gorgeous!!! What outstanding feathers! Nicely done, Phil!
Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the fluffed up GBH!
With you there, I’m thinking I know the reason!! What a great fluff job.
These guys are always up to something and getting fluffed is only one among their large repertoire of skills. 🙂
Genial!!!! Wonderful capture!!!!
Thanks very much for looking commenting!
What a beautiful guy! No way you guys could ignore him – he’s ready for his holiday parties!
He is indeed perfectly attired for all the holiday parties! Quite festive!
Maybe he just wanted to show exactly what a great blue heron is capable of. Enjoyed!
He really did show me too, in case I was not aware of the extent of fluffyness that could be achieved, I sure know now. 🙂
Amazing images, Phil. He certainly put on a good show for you. 🙂
Thanks Sylvia, I feel like I should pay admission for this show! 🙂
Fabulous creature!
They really are amazing and often entertaining birds!
Delightful, Phil, with exquisite detail! Number 3 is my favorite. Quite the character!

Thanks a bunch I appreciate the reblog. 🙂
Star of the show! What a way to capture movement in his moist feathers! Brilliant captures, Phil .)
I always enjoy watching these birds but occasionally we get an extra treat like this!
Excellent capture Phil!
Thanks very much Robyn, I appreciate that!
Stunning photos. 😀
I’m so happy you like them thank you. 🙂
Look at me – I am sooooooo handsome! (And he is!)
I think these birds more then any other seem aware of their appearance and attitude. They can be comical too!
Beautiful shots, so captivating and such magnificience, your photography is amazing, and has every detail beautifully shown in each shot. Love your photography, and the beauty of nature.

The suggestion of movement in shot #3 is fantastic, but they’re all superb.
#3 is my fave as well, thanks very much Gunta!
