Quick Skirmish In The Salt Marsh
Earlier this week there were a couple of egrets fishing in the salt marsh during low tide. The egrets don’t seem to be in particularly social moods lately, and when I saw this one jump off, I wasn’t surprised to see him go after the other egret.
He bit the offending bird in the rump and then tried to bite it’s foot but missed as the lucky egret skipped away to safety just in time.

Non riuscirò mai a fare foto così belle, sono stupende caro Phil.
Ciao, Pat

It’s good to see the skirmishes back. Great action. I know I’ve mentioned this before but I can’t help stop thinking you somehow incite them.

I think maybe it’s the hormones kicking in around this time of year that gets them all agitated.
I might *subtly suggest* that maybe that guy over there is looking at you funny and shouldn’t you fly over and do something about it. 🙂

I’m still working on my alligator incitement techniques, but they are usually tougher to influence.

All I get around here mostly is the solitary egret contemplating his navel. Never any action or excitement like yours.

Although our local egrets do plenty of standing around, they also can get fairly aggressive and territorial at times same as the great blues.

Such a beautiful, elegant dance, while being so naughty!

It’s ofren hysterical to see one go out of it’s way to fly across the marsh just to chase off another egret that was minding it’s own business. Guess it’s the principal of the thing. 🙂

Thanks a bunch, glad you like these egret shots. Trying to maintain detail in the white feathers is a constant challenge for me.

What a beautiful ballet, Phil! That naughty dancer should be thrown out of the troupe for bad behaviour. 🙂 Glad you got a front row seat for us. 🙂
