Surprise In The Swamp
We went over to the swamp hoping for a little action. Unfortunately however there was not a lot going on. There were alligators all over the place as usual, but all they were doing was napping in the sun or swimming lazily in the water. We finally spotted this very cute juvenile white ibis fishing (playing) in a small water pool. The youngster appeared to be having the time of his life being left alone to practice hunting his own snacks, and he apparently caught one fish while we watched. On the way out, the last picture of the day was big turtle, small turtle, sunning on a log.

Oh my gosh, Phil! These are stunning and wonderful photos. That top pic is one of my all-time favorites!

Thanks much! I really like the setting and color of that first photo as well. It was only a narrow area so I was lucky to get it.

Love the turtles. I saw a group of three last weekend, but they were half-submerged on their limb, and so reflective in the bright midday sunlight that there wasn’t a chance for a nice photo. They are beginning to appear everywhere now that spring is in full swing.

Our area ponds are full of turtles as well, along with momma mallard and her brood following behind her. We have turtle rescue/relocation cloth bags in all vehicles because we stop for turtles in the road. Sadly, I believe there are some drivers that deliberately run them over.

What lovely pictures Phil! The Ibis is having such a great time and the turtles look so content, holding their heads up to the sun. I have Lucy and granddaughter Thea with me for Easter, so we can enjoy your wonderful photography together. All the best, Maggie
