September Flights
Continuing in the tradition I started in August which was showing various flight shots taken during the month that had not been otherwise posted…Here are some for September!
I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.

I am just in love with the spoonbills. We used to have a spoonbill rookery smack in the middle of Galveston Bay – but that was decades ago, long before Hurricane Alicia cut through the island in ’83. I suppose the birds were gone by about the 70s.
These shots are marvelous. I’ve never seen wood storks, at least that I know. They’re beautiful! And those silly great blues really unfold into something spectacular, don’t they?

Yes the spoonies are a real favorite of mine. We drop everything to try to get pics if even one of them shows up!
The wood storks have a face only a mother could love but they are quite elegant flyers.
Thanks for checking out the flight photos!

Thank you Angelia, glad you like the bird flights!
The wood storks are unusual birds and their wings have green highlights when the sun hits them right.

Thanks very much, I appreciate your kind comments greatly! I’m glad you enjoy the bird flights! I usually try to get them with a tree, marsh grass, or water background rather then open blue sky, but sometimes I have no choice if that’s where they are. 🙂

I decided to stick to Alpine flora as they don’t fly or run away 😀 😀

Funny comment about the Alpine flora, you are correct, those will not suddenly jump up and fly away on you. 🙂 😯
