“This Is MY Pond!”
We were watching this alligator yesterday morning that seemed to be in a particularly cranky mood. It was running off some of the smaller gators and in general annoying the entire marsh pond for no other reason that we could determine except that it could! So at one point it came slowly floating toward me, stopped and gave me this look. I don’t know exactly what it was thinking, but I had the distinct feeling that it was letting me know who was in charge of the marsh…and guess what? It wasn’t me!!

It’s always nice to get that clarified.
That was exactly my feeling as well. Things always run more smooth when there are no misunderstandings which can result in hurt feelings. Very hurt feelings. 😯 😀
Among other things.
Okay. He’s right. He’s the boss. No question about that!
That was the exact conclusion I came to. No further discussion was required as far as I was concerned.
Oh my! I believe that if it were swimming towards me I would have been running in the opposite direction. No wait…I did that once. LOL He was deciding whether you would be a tasty morsel or not…and yes indeed, HE is the boss and that is HIS pond for certain. Have a fantastic weekend!
Yup it’s his pond and he will get no argument from me at all. 😯
Enjoy your weekend!
Well you certainly wouldn’t argue with him.. 🙂
No, absolutely not. I’m just happy he did not feel the need to walk up out of the pond and explain things further. 😯
most wild life leaves when they see a human and the only hope of getting a shot of them looking at you is the look back as they leave but not this guy lol
No not this guy, he was either daring me to come wade over and try something, or he was ignoring me as insignificant. The ignoring possibility sounds better to me. 😀
If I was given that look..I’d run the other way..but FAST !!
I have to say that was a *look*! Yikes! I’m sure he was friendly though. heh heh heh
Suppose we can all have a bad day , and by the looks o it he’s having one !
He really was having a bad day I think. I never saw him try to catch any fish or crabs. Could be he had an upset stomach. Maybe ate someone, uh I mean something, that did not agree with him. 😀
Wonderful processing. If that isn’t Essence of Alligator, I don’t know what is!
Thanks very much! I didn’t really have to do much at all in the way of post, just lightened and upped the contrast a bit. 🙂
“Essence of Alligator”…sounds excellent! A marketable fragrence? Humm…maybe not, how many people want to smell like a moldy swamp creature? 😛
That’s an evil look he’s giving you! You surely captured his cranky attitude!
Thanks Molly, and yes he was a real crank. Best to stay out of his way I’m thinking. 😀
Yikes! I’d say that look is pretty clear. Great capture.
Oh it’s plenty clear alright. 😯 😀
Thanks Robin!
Be afraid. Be very afraid. 🙂
Naw…he’s just a big baby. 😀
What, are alligators more friendly than crocodiles?
I would not mess with him! 🙂
No me either, I figured leaving him alone was the best way to go. 🙂
Thanks for looking.
Glad you didn’t OD on testosterone and decide to wrestle him for turf. 😉
Yeah that would not have been good for anybody! 😀
Plus I am already pumped up this weekend. We have the Fall Motorcycle Rally going on here now and I have my Harley out and we are enjoying the mayhem.
Thanks for checking out HGIC! (head gator in charge)
Ooh! Love Harleys! Enjoy. I know most of your photos are of nature, but will you be shooting some pictues of the rally?
¡Impresionante Phil!, no entiendo como no sientes miedo!
Muchas gracias.
Es sólo un bebé grande. Ha Ha 😀
Great shot and superbe light
Thanks I appreciate you looking and commenting!
Oh my God!! i dont thin there s a room for negotiation, the creature seems to be pretty confident. Super shot with right perception and highly dramatic. Well done.
Thank you for your kind words about this photo and I’m glad you enjoyed it!
And yes, he does appear quite confident. 🙂
Ouch. You caught his attitude amazingly. Not going for a swim there! 🙂
Thanks very much and you are correct, no swimming there! 😀
A great picture. I’m impressed! Luise-Lotte
Well thanks much Luise, I appreciate that!
Ah I love these shots!! Just wonderful… 🙂 Such a look.
Thanks a bunch Fey Girl! Glad you like the pic of the big boy!
THAT is awesome! Cool angle!
Hey thanks Gareth! I appreciate you checking in!
Make as me think of Clint Eastwood. That gator is saying, “Go ahead, make my day.” Lol!
I know he sure looks like he could be saying that! Thanks much!
Wow I would say he does look in charge of the pond for now.
I have no arguments with him being in charge. It’s totally fine with me. 😀
I wouldn’t argue with him either. :+) I think he’s perfect for the job.
Oh my God! You are amazing photographer. Thanks and Love, nia
Thank you for looking Nia, and I’m glad you like my photos!
It happens very rarely that I like so much the photo of the…creature I am not a fan of at all. Powerful shot!
Thank you very much for your visit and kind comments, and I’m happy you enjoyed this alligator photo!
Love this shot!
“I am HE who IS.”
Wow, POWER TO THE GATOR! Love this. 🙂
Power to the gator is right!!
As far as I’m concerned he always has the right of way and can go where he wants!
Thanks so much for checking out this pic!
