Flight Pair

This morning I photographed a pair of white ibis flying just above the marsh pond. The bottom ibis is displaying the all white plumage of an adult. You can see how the ibis flying above still has some patches of brown indicating it is transforming from an adolescent into an adult.

They seemed to be in a hurry and were likely heading over to join their friends who were feeding in the salt marsh nearby.

    • When they are very young they are almost totally brown, then gradually change to the all white adult.
Exact opposite of the little blue heron who starts as an all white youngster then changes into a blue and maroon adult. Birds can be amazing.
      Thanks for looking Paula!

  1. As a photographer (but not normally a bird photographer), I’m impressed that you were able to catch not one bird in motion, but two. Even when there’s no motion I know how hard it can be to get multiple subjects in focus as the same time.

    • Thanks very much Steve for your visit here and kind comments. I guess I was fortunate in these photos that the birds were fairly close together which allowed me the opportunity to get them both in focus. Doesn’t always turn out that way. 🙂
