Flight Pair
This morning I photographed a pair of white ibis flying just above the marsh pond. The bottom ibis is displaying the all white plumage of an adult. You can see how the ibis flying above still has some patches of brown indicating it is transforming from an adolescent into an adult.
They seemed to be in a hurry and were likely heading over to join their friends who were feeding in the salt marsh nearby.

Nice images, Phil.
Thanks much Mike.
Wonderful synchronisation.. Smashing captures Phil. 🙂
Appreciate the kind words Adrian!

Stereo ibis – wonderful.
Thanks much. Gotta love the ibiseses. 🙂
By the way, how are the computer issues working out?
Got my main machine back from the hospital last night! All is right with the world.
So pretty Phil. Robyn
Thank you Robyn, I’m very happy you like the ibis photos!
I did not know about the brown spots. Thank you 🙂 Remarkable photos as usual 🙂
When they are very young they are almost totally brown, then gradually change to the all white adult.
Exact opposite of the little blue heron who starts as an all white youngster then changes into a blue and maroon adult. Birds can be amazing.
Thanks for looking Paula!
Nice bit of synchronised flying. 🙂 You captured them so beautifully, Phil.
Thanks very much Sylvia, this pair sure had the technique down perfectly! 🙂
I like this partnership of an adult and an grown up very much. Thank you!

¡Preciosa toma, captada en el momento adecuado!
Muchas gracias Estoy feliz que te gusta las fotos
Ah, just lovely…. I love seeing them fly en masse back to their rookeries at dusk. You capture them so perfectly!
Thank you so much for looking and commenting! I’m glad you liked the ibis pics!
As a photographer (but not normally a bird photographer), I’m impressed that you were able to catch not one bird in motion, but two. Even when there’s no motion I know how hard it can be to get multiple subjects in focus as the same time.
Thanks very much Steve for your visit here and kind comments. I guess I was fortunate in these photos that the birds were fairly close together which allowed me the opportunity to get them both in focus. Doesn’t always turn out that way. 🙂
Just like a feeling that flying with them… amazing. Thanks and Love, nia
Thank you Nia, I am so happy you like these! 🙂
