Fishing In The Marsh…Part One

This is the same eagle from yesterday’s post.

Thursday afternoon we noticed this bald eagle sitting in a pine tree along side the salt marsh. The eagle was quite alert and appeared to be actively surveying the area in the direction of the marsh. The bald eagle’s legendary eyesight was on full display as it suddenly burst out of the tree and rapidly headed straight toward a spot in the water where it plucked out a fish. It obviously saw the fish even from a significant distance away and immediately went out to get it. The eagle then headed right back to the pine with it’s fresh catch safely secured in it’s talons.

What happened next after landing in the tree with the fish will be tomorrow’s post. So…stay tuned!

  1. Thanks for getting these up Phil they are great but then again what else would they be? As it is almost lunch
time my coffee hour is over lol. Had my coffee today with Alyce.

    • I’m really glad you enjoyed these eagle photos, and thanks for checking them out!
I tried to get them up earlier in time for morning coffee but looks like it’s closer to lunch. 😀

  2. [Programming my TiVo … ] Hey wait a minute! You’re not a network TV series — yer a BLOG! I look forward to the next episode. Episode One had great photography, a riveting plot, and made me hungry for dinner.
When the credits roll, will it include the line: “Animals were definitely harmed in the filming of this series”? 🙂

    • Yeah but the good part is that on the blog you don’t have to worry about zipping past the commercials! 🙂
I recommend getting comfy with some nice snacks and a your favorite beverage for part two.
And oh yes, there most definitely was an animal harmed on the making of this production. At least I’m pretty sure biting off the head counts as being harmed. 😯 😀

      Thanks for checking these out!

    • Thanks a bunch, glad you enjoyed these eagle pics!
Maybe this would be a good night to get outside and try some astro photography.
That oughta keep you busy until the next installment. 🙂

    • Thanks Ricky I appreciate you checking these out. They *could* be building a nest in a tree back at the far edge of the marsh. I saw a pair sitting on something this morning.

  3. Phil! These pictures are awesome! I love that I can see the details in the feathers and the look in his eye. I’m totally honored that you stopped by my blog and commented on my humble eagle photo.

  4. A great sequence of shots that take you through the whole story. I love image no 6 the sharp eye catches one’s attention. Once again well captured.
