A Relaxing Morning
Yesterday morning I went over to check out the swamp and see if any alligators might be out taking advantage of the bright sun and warmer temps. After a brief wait I saw this guy come gliding in and haul himself up out of the water and onto his comfy nap spot he had chosen for the day. I guess it was a popular place because a short time later he was joined by his friend who had also apparently decided that location looked extra comfy!

Great shots Phil.
Thanks very much Jan.
Dear Phil,
wish you a relaxing Sunday! Wonderful series, so sunny, so peaceful. 😉

Thank you moni, Hope you enjoy your weekend!
Wonderful series of images.
I’m very happy you enjoyed them!
I find them such interesting creatures, and yet just like bears, pretty terrifying. Love the photos.
Thanks very much for looking and commenting, I greatly appreciate it and I’m happy you like the alligator photos!
Stunning pics!
Thanks, I appreciate you looking!
Ahh, spring!

Yes Spring, but guess what? The ‘island’ out in the swamp moved again. It’s now way far back and many alligator views are no longer possible. 😦
They have such a tough life, don’t they? 🙂 Fabulous photos again, Phil.
Yes we should all have it so rough. Of course it would require you to live in swamp mud and muck so I’m not sure I would be totally on board with that. 🙂
Thanks very much Sylvia!
What makes the island “move”?
I have concluded that the ‘island’ is actually a floating grass bog. Even though it has 15 foot trees on it, the trees are apparently rooted in the island, not to the floor of the swamp. So high wind conditions (which we had recently) and storms could cause it to move or float.

Fascinating! and a bit strange, too. Thanks for the explanation and the link.
Glad you liked the info. 🙂
Fabulous captures Phil ! I happened to notice that one head is rounder than the other. Would you know why?
Thanks Emily, glad you like the alligator pics!
Are you talking about the apparent difference in the head shape between pics 2 and 3? If so that’s the same gator, I just moved over more to the left and shot from a different angle on the last pics.
Always nice to relax in good company. Lovely pictures Phil.
Oh well sure, who doesn’t like to relax in the sun on a warm morning?! 😀
Thanks Adrian!
Fabulous pictures again, Phil. Happy Sunday to you.
Thanks very much, hope you are enjoying your Sunday!
Great photos of these guys!
Thank you Molly, glad you like them!
All that’s missing is the easy chair.
Ha ha, well I had my chair.
Seriously, I sometimes haul out a folding camp chair if I think I might be in one area for a while.
Why stand when you can sit? 🙂
