Wood Storks In Love?!
Earlier this week I noticed this pair of wood storks close together in the salt marsh at low tide. At first they both seemed to be just fishing, then I saw that they were getting more than a little friendly. When I saw that they apparently started grooming each other I had to move in for a closer look. Yes…these two sure looked like they were in love. It must be Spring!

Lovely serie of photo!
Great photowork!

Oh, with their long fluffy plumage they look almost like swans – or at least ballerinas in swan tutus! Fabulous. 🙂

Well sure that fluffy white plumage looks a bit elegant, but then you see their faces… 😯 🙂

Ummm … I agree, they’re rather lugubrious looking creatures – all they need is a pair of pince nez to look like a cartoon of an old spinster teacher!

Oh, I know that feeling so well when I look out to see a particularly colorful sunset…. though the fog might obscure it completely out at the beach. How many times have I raced out to find the horizon perfectly grey and dull.

Again you´ve succeeded with your photo serie ! I love their fluffy plumage, their long beak … but the face…
At first i thought it was ugly … When i looked at your pictures for a while, i think their faces matches their legs … And i decided that i love the contrast between the beutiful plumage and perhaps the less beutiful other part of their faces … // Maria

Ah even woodstorks seem tender with each other during the season of love!! My hubbie doesn’t understand why I love these ‘ugly bald birds.’ But, I love them. Since the neck has the texture of flint like you’d strike a match on, one of their nicknames is “Old Flinthead” and I like that one. The are also called Wood Ibises and are closely related to the regular Ibis oddly I guess you can see it in the curvature of the bill.
LikeLike
I like them quite a bit as well although they may not have the most pleasant looking heads and faces. They are amazingly elegant flyers though.
Yes I enjoy watching the ibis along with the large waders such as these storks and of course the spoonbills. 🙂

Well OK I guess you can get away with that type of comment with these guys, but don’t say that about the alligators. They can be very sensitive and we don’t want to hurt any feelings. 😀
