April Flights
Well it’s that time of the month again. In keeping with the tradition I started a while back to present some various flight shots for the month that had not otherwise been posted here are some April flights!Â
I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.

Is it that time again already Phil? Smashing shots!

Nice Album Phil! I already miss that place! No big birds around here. Oh, there were 3 gbh”s at the river where we walked this morning. That’s it. Have fun!

The great egret is the greatest of this bunch – in my humble opinion. What’s yours?

Well you have a good eye to spot and pick out that photo, it has the most pleasant and appealing background and setting I feel which helps make it look a bit out of the ordinary. Yes I like that one very much as well. I also like the anhinga but that could be mostly because I don’t often get decent shots of them flying.
I also like the high key look of the osprey even though I don’t normally prefer open blue or worse yet grey sky flights shots. But that’s where the raptors often are so they don’t give me much choice.

I would like to have you see it as well although picking one day can be tricky. I can show up one day and there could be action all over, then show up again the next day at the same time and there is nothing. But so it goes with nature. 🙂

Just love all of these, Phil! Can’t pick a favourite, although, knowing how fast those little terns fly, that was a brilliant shot and the way you get the light on the glorious colours of the tri-heron – stunning! Thank you for giving us all such pleasure, Phil!

I greatly appreciate your very kind words Maggie and I’m so happy you enjoy these flight photos. Interesting you picked out that tern, if you remember the series of Forster’s Terns I posted a few weeks back well these Least Terns are smaller and faster!! They are like trying to photograph a fast flying insect.
Cheers! 🙂

Stunning. Leaning toward the Osprey as my favorite, though it is really hard to choose.

Thanks I appreciate you looking and commenting. I like the osprey too because the grey overcast sky made it stand it out in an interesting way I thought.

I love every single one of these. Hard to pick a favorite from such spectacular shots, but push comes to shove I’d have to go with the Tern.
