The Fish Were Flying!
Our pal Mr. Gator was really getting things all stirred up in the salt marsh last night, and by “things” I mean lots of small fish! They were busting out of the water all over the place as the big boy was lunging out, splashing down, and swallowing mouthfuls of the tasty treats. The fish did not have much hope for escape either, the alligator had them corralled in a shallow landlocked pool formed by the receding tide. It was close to total dark by the time we left and Mr. Alligator was still at it sloshing about gobbling up the hapless fish. I bet he slept well last night!

Das sieht ja lustig aus, aber wie man sieht, war er erfolgreich.ist ja wie im Schlaraffenland 😀

He was at this for a couple hours so he likely got quite full. There was a lot of shrimp out there too. 🙂

I was always taught to not swim with your moth open, I don’t see how this ends well for Mr. Gator.

The evening went a lot better for our friend Mr. Gator then it did for a lot of fish. 😯 🙂

Quite a mouthful. He seems to fish as if he had baleen.

Very interesting you say that Steve, I have many photos where they are feeding in shallow water like this and when they surface and I can see them strain the water through their teeth and out their mouth baleen style. Sometimes they are straining more mud then water.

Ah Phil. I think you need to spoil Mr. A and take him to a nice French pond. 🙂

I don’t know, Mr. A is kind of a Bubba. He would more likely be at home at the Country Buffet then a fine dining establishment. 🙂

Wow. And what an overused word to describe this series. I’m guessing he had to eat a lot of small fry to fill up. I love his skin and the detail here. Really cool stuff.

He would need a lot of those small fish, shrimp, and crabs to fill him up, but since he was at it for two hours I think he likely got quite full. 🙂
I’m very glad you enjoyed this feeding session by our pal Mr. A!
