Late Night Fishing
Last week, very late in the evening, I found our old pal Mr. Alligator all by himself fishing in the salt marsh. None of his little bird friends were around, in fact no one at all was around. I stayed and watched him for a while until it got too late even for photos and when I finally left for the night he was still at it scooping up small fish and glass shrimp. He must have been very hungry and did NOT want to have to go to bed without his supper!

Oh, Phil, the man but very hungry off and I hope that you’re always on safety distance.
LG Mathilda ♥

Wow. Nature for real. He looks very focused on feeding. Glad he wasn’t focused on you. Scary. But also beautiful. Love the captured action.

He has perfected his special fishing technique, and he may be in need of a teeth cleaning. 🙂

Amazing action shots. It appears that he must trap the fish with those teeth of his while letting the water slosh on through. Just how successful is that technique?

That is what he was doing, many times I have seen them fish baleen whale style. Gobbling up huge amounts of water (and some mud) and straining out the good stuff. Amazing adaptation is action.

Looks like a friendly fellow. The sort that one would invite over for a spot of tea and a bite.
😉 Great shot!

Thanks very much for looking!

Thanks very much Amy! Not so scary out there though as he was totally ignoring me and just going about his business catching late night dinner.

I think it has been a while since he last saw a dentist. I try to set up appts. but the dentists always cancel, not the patient. 🙂

That is very cool. I like how photos can freeze action and you can see things that are otherwise invisible.

They can be up all hours and take part in quite a bit of nocturnal activity I suspect.
