Bath Time For Spoonie
Yesterday afternoon we saw this spoonbill in the marsh pond who decided it was the perfect time to take a nice bath. It splashed around in the water for a while then proceeded to dry off it’s wings and preen it’s feathers. I think he cleaned up quite nicely! 🙂Â
Oh dear Phil, what a beautiful photographs, I fall in love with them. so beautiful. You are amazing, Thank you, love, nia
I am so happy you like them Nia, thanks!
Great behavior series, Phil. This one is all set for the Spoonie Ball. 🙂
This spoonie is all set for a formal event for sure! Thanks Steve.
Spoonie Ball indeed! Hard to top that.
Except our resident dysfunctional spoonie would be the one at the affair to get drunk and cause a scene. 😯
Gorgeous shots.
I’m glad you like them, thanks.
The pink version of Swan Lake! Simply breathtaking! Thank you, Phil!
Thank you for your kind comments Maggie!
Beautifully looks like a Balettkleidchen and bathing it is at and it is now already too cold 😀
LG Mathilda
Thank you very much I am glad you liked these photos!
I just love the water and pinks on this series… great shots Phil!
Thanks very much for checking them out and I’m happy you enjoyed them!
WOW, dear Phil,
what a gorgeous series, think this bird loves to splash. The last picture is brilliant!
Have a nice day
moni
Thank you very much moni I am so happy you enjoyed these photos!
This bird is competing with the Great Blue Heron as my favorite! Maybe I can have two.
You can join the club because I feel the same way, whenever the spoonbills are around they become my favorite bird along with the GBH. In fact yesterday there was a GBH fishing in the salt marsh along with some spoonies, and I concentrated on the spoonbills.
Sono fantastiche. Che spettacolo meraviglioso hai fotografato. Complimenti!!!!
Sono molto felice ti è piaciuto lo rosa spettacolo!
Grazie Pat!
I think he’s clean enough and your pictures are amazing!
He sure looks clean to me. Glad you like the photos!
Wow these are great!

Thanks Sue, I’m glad you enjoyed these photos!
I like when the camera is able to freeze action and show something the naked eye cannot see. Those are some really cool shots.
I appreciate that Jeff, thank you.
Magnificently clean plumage, Phil. Fantastic pics again. 🙂
Oh he is very clean! Surprising too because that water doesn’t look like it would clean a bird all that well. 🙂
Those are wonderful photos! I smiled through the whole sequence. 🙂
I’m happy you enjoyed those Deb, thank you!
Oh my goodness, these are wonderful, Phil. That last shot reminds me of the wings of an angel (yeah, I watch too many movies…LOL)!
Thanks so much Gracie and movies are good! 🙂
Wow! Beautiful shots of a gorgeous bird, Phil. 🙂
Thank you Robin I really appreciate you looking and commenting!
Awesome, as always!
Hey thanks a million! Glad you like them!
He is absolutely my favourite bird 🙂 … And your last photo of him, is stunning // Maria 🙂
I’m very happy you enjoyed these spoonbill photos, thanks Maria!
The very first in this series? A ballroom dancer with one of those over-the-top feathered costumes! Is it just me, or does this particular spoonie appear more … gentle … in disposition than Mr. Macho spoonie? The eyes are soft here. Beautiful captures, and colors.
Well this is a younger bird then our resident crank but it’s true the juveniles tend to look a bit…fluffier. 🙂
However… here’s a new flash for you! Mr. Grumpy was also out yesterday and seemed to get along well with five other spoonbills! A first! Photos of that to follow…
Hmmm. Interesting. Can’t wait to see those! 🙂
Except for a minor tail biting incident, 😯 Mr. Cranky pants seemed to be mostly behaving himself around the birds including other spoonbills. Amazing. 🙂
Some of us are falling in love with the this pink spoonie, beautiful in the air, water, and bathing…. Thank you so much for the post, Phil!!!
Well I truly appreciate your very kind comments Amy, thanks a bunch!
So great photos! So really, really great shots! ▲▲▲
I am really very happy you liked these spoonbill photos! 🙂
Once again I’ve run out of superlatives for your great, fantastic shooting!
I appreciate that very much Gunta, thanks.
Beautiful! 🙂
Thanks a bunch Sarah!
Love all the shots especially the bathing with the water droplets frozen in time around Mr. Spoonie. The pink is gorgeous. I wonder if this is the same “show off” spoonie from the other day?
Thank you Pat I’m glad you like these photos! This is a younger bird and not our local cranky show off. I saw him again yesterday though and plan to head over later today to see if he is still around.
Wow, amazing shots with the water drops and the pink. You really caught this beautiful bird!
Hey thanks very much! I am still excited we have some of these pink goofballs hanging around our area and providing lots of photo ops.
Esto es una belleza Phill!!
Muchas gracias me alegra que les gustan estas fotos!
OMG… I love the detail in his wet feather and water drops so much :).
Great to hear that Paula, thanks very much! 🙂
Hi
I was directed here by Gunta. Super set of action shots. The spoonbill did indeed clean up alright.

Loved these!
I appreciate your kind comments, thanks!
Gorgeous, Phil, as always. The last photo is great : like he’s checking every feather to see if he didn’t miss a spot.
He was indeed quite thorough. 🙂 Glad you liked these spoonie shots!
