Checking out the marsh activity really pays off. Even this bird’s shape implies perhaps his fast nature, and fleeting appearances. Great shot of his skim line. The water is so quiet!
These birds are super fast and the back lighting helped his line in the water stand out. Still water usually works best to get a good skim line. 🙂
And of course you were right there to catch it! 🙂 I can’t help but wonder how many hours you spend at your marsh.
I was happy this guy showed up while I was there. I do spend some time over there, some of the birds are starting to recognize me which I’m hoping is a good thing. 🙂

Thanks very much Sally. No aux. lighting of any kind. The back lit scene helped highlight the skim line so I was fortunate there.

Wow. Only one pass by the bird and you caught it perfectly in an incredible shot. I know that I would have been still fiddling with the settings on my camera long after the bird was gone and missed any shot whatsoever. Both you powers of observation and your reaction time seem amazing.
