Yesterday morning this osprey got two fish on one dive into the water. One fish for each talon!

  That osprey sure knew what he was doing out there. Often I see them strike the water multiple times and come up with nothing. This show off gets two, and not an eagle in sight to steal his catches. 🙂

  We were talking this morning and speculating that maybe the osprey figures if he catches two fish and gets jumped by the eagle, he can distract the eagle by dropping one as a counter measure and still have one for himself.

  You are right about being privileged to occasionally be able to witness, if even not be able to photograph much of nature. Many times I have witnessed amazing aerial combat by a bald eagle (or two) jumping an osprey for it’s fish but they are maybe to high up or far off for photos. But that’s OK, I’m thrilled just to be there and see it.
  
  Sometimes the osprey might carry a fish back to a nest but this time of year they are likely to carry it over to a tree to eat and enjoy.
