“Big Deal, I Can Do That”
A great blue heron appears to be showing off by making a dramatic fly by statement as the egret in the background looks on. The egret doesn’t appear to be tremendously impressed however, and likely feels he can do as good a job flying as the blue heron!
But in any case, the egret is probably just as happy that the great blue kept on going and didn’t try to take over his prime fishing spot in the salt marsh as often happens.
Bellissimo questo airone blu, uno scatto fantastico!!!
Bravissimo come sempre Phil 🙂
Ciao, Pat
Sono molto felice che ti è piaciuto questa foto Pat!
I love a show off and this blue heron certainly is a master! Great shot!
Oh he is such a show off out there!
Hey! You should look into adopting one! Ted and NC would love a big squawking bird that walks around and eats all their food!
YES! I’m so going to adopt one now. I’m looking for ways to spend more money on pet food, vet visits and overall maintenance. Fab idea!
That’s exactly what I figured. Although… you might have a little trouble with litter box training but hey, that’s all part of the fun!
Wonderful story and excellent photos as always, Phil! Any news, maybe even good progress? Best wishes, Dina
We all keep our fingers crossed for you!
Thanks a million, good to know you enjoyed this shot!
I’m going Friday for an RFL procedure on my back and leg nerves so hopefully that solves some issues.
I have to keep hoping anyway. 🙂
Thanks for asking.
We hope so too, Phil! Take good care! Big hug and best wishes for Friday
Dina
Thanks a million for the kind thoughts Dina, it’s greatly appreciated.
Ha ha!! Phil, you think up the best verbal scenarios! Nice photo.
Well I’m really happy you enjoy all my goofy stories and photos! 😀 Thanks for checking them out!
I think that if I could fly, I’d occasionally buzz the tower or an egret just because I could.
Oh of course, that’s exactly what you would do. Many times when a bald eagle buzzes a group of ducks and makes them all scatter in a panic I truly believe he is often doing it just for laughs because he can.
Awesome photo, great reading too!
Thanks a lot for your comment at my blog!
I do have a White Tailed Eagle-post at my B&W Blog too:

Thanks very much Hans, glad you enjoyed this photo!
I laughed at Lyle’s comment because I had a similar thought. Would be great no? Command to the tower, I’m going in.
These guys sure are fun to watch and photograph!
Sorry I have not been able to get at your blog recently, I’ve had health issues for several weeks now and have undergone two procedures on my back just this past week. I’m hoping things improve soon. 🙂
Oh my, I wish you well, Phil. No fun being a nature photographer and being laid up. I hope you get well soon.
I’m getting around better now and that’s good thing because I can’t leave those poor little alligators out there alone with no one to take their picture.
Phil, I have been meaning to ask… do you go in the water in hip boots or always from shore? Plus, if on shore, how close do you get since the waters have alligators?
Great shot Phil, as usual. 🙂
I really appreciate that Jan, thank you.

Places to go, people to see ………! I will be keeping my fingers (and everything else) crossed for you on Friday, Phil!
Thanks very much as always for your kind comments Maggie!
What a gorgeous display of skilful navigation, with those wing tips just brushing the water. Great shot, Phil. 🙂
Thank you Sylvia, yes these guys really know what they are doing out there!
One in a million! Beautiful!
I appreciate that Andy, thank you!
Beautiful, perfect! Thank you, Phil!
Thanks a bunch Amy!

Thank you for letting me know, Phil! Hope the procedures work for you and it will improve very soon! Take care…
Feeling a bit better now Amy, thanks! 🙂
It’s so encouraging to see signs of spring in this photo – the GBH is wearing its breeding color beak – both top and bottom bill bright orange! I love to see that, especially when we still have some snow still on the ground here! Thanks for posting this be Phil.
I’m so glad you enjoyed this photo, thanks so much!

Hi Phil – I have been away from the blog world myself for ten days or so and just found your reply here. I do hope that you are on the mend, feeling better with rach passing day, and that the procedures were not too painful for you. You are needed back at the marsh once the weather settles in to spring for real! Take care, Babsje
I’m feeling a bit better and getting around more. I do have to get back to the marsh, I can’t leave those poor little alligators alone with no one to take their picture! 🙂
Indeed, not to mention Spoonie! How will he know it’s the right marsh if you’re not there to greet him upon his return this spring?!
Oh he would be devastated if I was not there!! (actually he probably wouldn’t even notice) but I like to think he cares! 🙂
Beautiful! And best wishes for Friday and that it brings some relief.
Mr. GBH is really showing up that egret!
Thanks very much!
Friday’s procedure went fairly well, I’m just hoping it provides some benefit. Still too early to really tell.
Good on the procedure. Hoping it will have helped for you, once enough time has passed to tell. My husband has one at the end of April, and we are hoping it will go well, too. S
Here it is a week later and I’m still a little sore and I’ll find out on Monday how normal that is.
Best of luck to your husband!
To you as well! We’re gearing up for April 30th. Should be a few days of discomfort, hopefully after that better. 🙂
I’m hoping for the best for you both. 🙂
