Quick Exit
Early morning in the marsh pond and this great egret leaves in a hurry. In the first photo you can see a fish jumping just below and behind the egret’s feet. Look carefully in the bottom right corner of the second photo for a surprise appearance by you know who!

OK how many species can you jam into one photo? So who saw the eyes first – you or the egret?

I try to keep this an all inclusive photo blog.
I’m sure the egret knew the alligator was there but he seemed mostly unconcerned. A lot of jumping fish contributed to the splashes.

One lucky fish got away and a bunch more were splashing! Mr. A likes to be around the action. 🙂

That egret knows how to hit and run for sure.
Sorry I have not been able to get at your blog recently, I’ve had health issues for several weeks now and have undergone two procedures on my back just this past week. I’m hoping things improve soon. 🙂

No worries. You just take care of you. That’s the important thing. I’ve been a little hit and miss myself.

Is that why the egret left, I wonder? Discretion is the better part of valour, they say!

These birds are fairly used to seeing the alligators around and are not usually terrified by them. But also why take crazy risks?! :-). Thanks for looking Maggie!

That egret can be 50 feet away in less then a second. But of course the alligator is quick too.

When the birds really have to worry about the alligators is when they are under the water and the birds can’t see them approach. Yikes!
