The One That Got Away
This tricolored heron was doing some evening fishing in the salt marsh recently when a fish he had been stalking swam off to escape it’s frightful demise. You can see the ripples in the water made by the lucky fish as it made a quick exit. Those ripples also give kind of a melting look to the heron’e eye.

That’s his Terminator version, he melts away and reforms as White Heron. Ha ha! Very cool on the reflection and way to go fast swimmer. Just wasn’t that fishy’s time. 🙂

Almost as though the fish poked the heron in the eye… poor heron!

Poor heron but lucky fish.

You have me wondering if I feel less sympathy for the fish because I like to eat them, too. But I don’t like it when they’re served with the heads attached. I don’t like eating something that’s staring at me! 🙄

The evening light gives this picture a luminous quality, which is beautiful! The water is like silk, which makes the reflection stunning! What a fantastic picture, Phil!

Love that reflection. Too bad he was denied his little snack this time, but he’ll get another I know! 🙂 Lighting in this is sublime!

I truly appreciate the kind comments. Our little heron friend will likely snag the next poor unfortunate fish that swims by.
