Not Hiding After All…
On a previous visit to the salt marsh, this great blue heron came gliding in on a mission. When he landed back in among the reeds, it appeared that might be exactly where he would spend the afternoon. But within two minutes he came walking out to water’s edge to begin hunting for lunch.
I liked the way his eye was still visible through all the reeds in the landing shots.
He does blend, but you can see his eye! Love his long neck feathers. And his lonnnng legs in the first shot! ๐
It was fortunate that as he moved behind those reeds his eye was still visible peeking through. ๐
Enjoyed these much!!
I’m happy to hear that, thanks a bunch!
Lovely.
I appreciate it, thank you.
Fabulous photos of this beautiful bird, Phil. He really does have very beady eyes. ๐
These guys are always on alert about something. Or maybe I should say on alert about nothing. They often raise a huge fuss even when no one is around. I think they like to hear themselves complain.
Being blue, it’s surprising how well he blends with the reeds! Such a special bird!
We often see one or more of these birds just back a bit behind the reeds waiting for the tide to be right for fish!
Sometimes they are tough to see.
