Late Evening Activity
The storm clouds rolled into the marsh area yesterday evening and the rain that followed eventually chased me from the area.
But before I left I did see some activity.
We had an egret come jetting across the marsh reeds in a big hurry.
A wood stork decided to step out of the water and relax on his knees? Elbows? I’m not sure. It didn’t look very comfortable to me but Woody seemed fine with his unusual position.
A spoonbill spent a bit of time making sure his pink feathers were all nice and fluffy.
And a young black skimmer made a few passes through before packing it in for the night.

That stork looked very odd and I can not remember ever seeing one sit (or whatever it is he is doing) like that before. Spoonies are fun pink fluff balls!

You would *think* there would be no time for small talk yet some manages to edge it’s way in.
I need a good loud bird fight to keep things on track sometimes.

That whole position looks very uncomfortable to me but what do I know? I can’t remember seeing a stork do this before so it was unusual for me for sure.

Very nice shots Phil. That skimmer photo is terrific! I’ve never seen a wood stork rest that way, but like you said he looks very comfortable.

I can not remember ever seeing a wood stork rest in a position like that, very odd.
Glad you liked the skimmer Lee, it was almost dark and that was a high ISO, slow shutter deal.

Wow, what a great series of activity shots. I did laugh out loud at the goofy position the wood stork is in. Really enjoy the wood storks – they are pretty in their own way. 🙂

I like the wood storks quite a bit as well. They kind of do have a face only a mother could love but I suppose that’s a big part of their charm. Odd position in this case though, very odd. 🙂
