This Guy Was Good!
This past week I was chasing a cormorant up and down the salt marsh area as he was swimming around fishing for dinner.
I saw him come up with several fish in the space of only ten minutes. He must have been not only full, but quite proud of his accomplishments. He triumphantly strutted for a bit before finally blasting off toward the other end of the marsh!
I love it when they have reasons to strut. Great bunch again.
I would say that 9 times out of 10 a cormorant will turn it’s back to me when it comes up with a fish. Not sure if this happens to everybody or just me. But in any case I was happy this guy was a bit more cooperative.
Maybe this was his version of our Thanksgiving?! Lucky guy indeed!
I think bird Thanksgiving will come when the eagle swoops down and nabs a duck out of the water. Fresh duck for dinner! 😎
I now have this pic in my head of Cameraman Phil, running backwards and forwards along the bank, shouting, “Wait for me!” It’s all good exercise, and you did get some excellent photos, so well worth the effort. 🙂
Oh I did get my exercise that day for sure Sylvia! I was running back and forth like a lunatic and I strongly suspect the cormorant was doing it on purpose and enjoying every minute of it. 😀
He sure was proud. Almost looked like he was ready to pound his chest. Beautiful photos of this guy. Colors and reflection are so nice too.
I think he was proud and happy he got me to race back and forth like a crazy person.
Glad you liked the photos!
Another excellent series. 🙂
I’m happy you enjoyed these, thanks much.
This is one smart cormorant! Better not show Kevin these – a cormorant is not good news on the pond where he fishes!
Oh I know how that goes, even a fairly small group of cormorants can wipe out a pond in no time. Area fishermen do not like those birds at all. Lucky this guy was in the ocean part so an almost inexhaustible supply of fish will be available. 🙂
Beautiful series, thanks so much for sending me these, your pictures are great, and are a delight as well as great shots of beautiful creatures…thanks again, Phil
I am so happy you enjoyed seeing our busy and hungry cormorant Linda, thank you!
