I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
Apparently legend has it the Ibis is very brave when hurricanes come….last to leave and first to return. Fitting for a school with football Hurricanes. I think the Ibis should be the Floridastte bird rather than the Northen Mockingbird. Even CSI Miami, the Tv show, has them sailing over the mangroves/glades in great numbers…a very evocative sight.
Funny I went to the U of M and yet am a complete blank on ever knowing that. Guess my real interest in birds came later. As luck would have it I hung out with some Ibises last Friday and had recently looked it up. Its rather cool that you and I see the same species, often at the same time…Carolina marsh or Florida coast. I think Florida is just a little bit ahead of Carolina for the breeding season due to the Northward advance of warm weather.
He sure did give you a look — he wanted his privacy while shaking those tail feathers. Great shots of his bath. Love those bills!
All a bird can ask for is a little privacy. They do have a funny bill!
Stunning, Phil… he seemed to me to be showing off a little!!
He did seem to be showing off! Glad you liked these ibis photos.
Terrific shots! Great short story 😉
Thanks for checking them out and glad you liked seeing the bathing ibis!
Lovely captures, and quite a character by the looks of it…
Oh they are funny birds for sure and this guy seemed particularly amusing!
Gorgeous!

I appreciate you looking and commenting thanks!
Great Shot, such clarity and beauty, you can even see the water splashes and droplets around him that are so clear and vibrant, beautiful…
We had fun watching this active little guy and I’m glad you enjoyed seeing his bath pics!
Such great expression in the eyes of that Ibis! Lovely lighting and water detail too ! My alma mater mascot you know!
Thanks so much Judy glad you liked seeing the ibis bathing!
What school is this?! Cool mascot!
University of Miami
Oh excellent!

Now that you mention it I have heard that story. Great birds!

And of course you didn’t! Great shots. The eye stole the show.
This was unusual too, I don’t normally see an ibis bathing. I was really surprised a bit later when his friend came in and did the same thing.
How very rude of you to be a peeping (or should I say clicking?) Tom! But so very nice of you to share!
It was a bit rude of me to intrude but I have to document such behavior it’s my job. Well, sort of. 🙂
I see that you caught his eye…Love the photos, they are so engaging and enjoyable.
I honestly think he heard the camera clicking. The spoonbills will tilt their head up to look at me like that they are very similar to the ibis.
Can’t a chap get a bit of privacy? Well, maybe not if you are as goodlooking as that!
He looked like he wanted a bit more privacy but I had to stick around and grab a few more pics! 🙂
He’s giving you the stink eye!
Yeah but you gotta love those blue eyes! 🙂
