I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
Brown Pelican backlit and silhouetted by late day sun on a recent late afternoon in the marsh. Despite the day winding down, he was still out there fishing trying to come up with a meal before heading off for the night.
I always like that yellowish late afternoon light!
Yes, the light that time of day can indeed be quite nice! Thanks
It beats going to bed with that gnawing in your tummy! 😉
I totally agree!
Yup, that is never a good feeling.
Oh I hate when that happens. The cat and I usually have our late night ice cream. 🙂
Love the late day light and the interesting image that it creates for you.
Thank you Charlie, yes I tried to make the best of the back lighting I had. Sometimes no choice but to go full on silhouette. 🙂
This is unusual and striking, Phil! Give him a medal for persistence!
Oh yeah, he kept at it. This guy was not going to bed hungry. 🙂
Pelicans are great, I love them, he had to have a snack before sleeping, can’t blame him!!!!
I myself have been known to enjoy a little late night snack. 🙂
Greatlight through the wings. Hope he got a meal.
Most everybody out there was getting something. Of course the cormorants were getting most of everything. Those guys can clear out a lake in no time.
love the wing spread Phil
They are impressive birds and fun to watch and photograph. Thanks Scott!
