I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
Yesterday, just prior to sunset, this great blue heron made an early evening flight across the salt marsh.
We have some cold weather coming in, so these birds better get themselves fed and into some shelter from the wind until temps get back to normal.

Ein ganz wundervolles Bild.

The colours in this are stunning, Phil! Our birds are feeding heavily right now, telling me that bad weather is on the way. They are a great indicator!

When we lived up north we used to watch the squirrels. If they seemed to be frantically collecting acorns during fall, we expected a severe winter. We don’t get extended cold here much, but can tell when the birds appear to be getting a little nervous.

Freezing cold here, Ive seen migrations of geese flying for the past few weeks to the South, cant blame them, beautiful shot of blue heron, wonder if they stay where u are even in the winter or move further south…

We can see birds such as herons, egrets, ibis, and bald eagles out all winter despite how cold it gets. They live here year round and still have to eat. 🙂
