Not Expecting That
It was a bright, clear afternoon today but extremely cold and windy so not many birds were out there fighting the gusts.
When I first saw this great blue heron nestled down in among the reeds in the salt marsh, I assumed he was trying to stay out of the wind. But suddenly he jumped up and took flight across the marsh. I guess he was still looking for a nicer, warmer spot to settle in and hopefully hide from the stiff ocean breeze.
I love these guys….. lovely photos…so sharp and clear…
Thanks, I always enjoy seeing what these guys are up to. It’s never a dull moment. 🙂
I’m cold just looking at him!
About a minute after you guys drove away two eagles came flying in over the pond area fighting. It was mostly too far up for good pics but fun to see.
It was super cold out there!
There is something about watching a Great Blue Heron that just takes your breath way.
Yeah they are probably my favorite bird out there. Well, until the spoonbills show up. 🙂
Stunning captures. Loves the colours in the last one.
Thank you, they are nice birds to watch.
Great shots, Phil. My GBH is not looking at all happy with the colder weather, and went right up to the neighbour’s door as though asking to be let in. 🙂
They should let him in, get him his own dinner bowl, and give him a spot on the couch. Of course blue herons can often be loud complainers so you would have that to contend with. 🙂
Great shots, beautiful, georgous bird.
Thanks I love seeing these big guys!
The colours couldn’t be better, especially in the second one, Phil!
Thanks Maggie, glad you liked seeing the big guy. He had to be cold out there though, I know I was.
