There Always Has To Be Comments
The great blue herons around this area seem to love to hear themselves speak. They will squawk at anyone or no one, for any reason or no reason. They feel compelled to announce their comings and goings as well as their mere presence.
This GBH from earlier this week was no different. Even though there were no other birds at all in the area, he had to let the world know that he was flying from one spot in the marsh, to a different spot in the marsh.
It just has to be done.
Incredible detail. Wow!
Thanks very much, glad you liked the talkative GBH!
I can almost hear him announcing himself. Look at that long yap! 🙂
Yup and as usual that big long yap is open and that voice carries too.
Its a spectacular site beautiful against the contrasting backdrop
Thanks Scott, I prefer when I can get birds flying with a background other then open sky. Grass, trees, water, anything almost.
These photos are terrific! Looking at their expressions, I can just hear that loud squawking, Phil!
You can’t mistake that sound once you hear it. Egrets are similar but not quite the same squawk!
Love those Blue’s, they sound almost prehistoric with there squawks.
And they look almost prehistoric too especially when flying. Wood storks the same.
Wonderful captures, Phil. They can be noisy, but oh so beautiful.
Thanks Donna, they are probably my favorite bird and it’s always funny when I hear one yacking but can’t see him hidden in the reeds. I know he’s out there though.
Very beautiful captures, Phil! Thanks!
Thanks for looking and glad you liked seeing the loud GBH!
Such a funny caption, Phill 🙂
What a gorgeous bird and beautiful action shots 🙂
Oh wow! Thanks very much! I’m very happy you liked seeing the loud mouth heron!
Great captures.
Thanks so much.
Fantastic captures.
Thanks for looking and commenting.
Oddly enough I’ve never heard a peep out of any of our GBHs. I think they’re much too shy.
We have a bunch of rowdy loudmouths around here. The egrets are not much better.
Well, I guess when you are as gorgeous as that, the world needs to know you have arrived so that they can come out and admire you!
I strongly suspect that is exactly how he views the situation. Blue herons and alligators tend to think rather highly of themselves. 🙂
